About the artist

Daniel Robert Hunziker studied architecture at the ETH Zurich from 1988 to 1989. In 1992 he did a practical training in New York with the American sculptor Willard Boepple. From 1993 to 1997 he studied fine arts at the Zurich University of Arts.
Archi¬tec¬tural room installations are an inte¬gral part of Hunziker’s oeuvre. He often separates architectural fragments from their urban context and integrates them into his own hybrid works. Sometimes his replicas assume the dimension of the originals, challenging them nevertheless. Thereby he consciously balances between fine arts and everyday experiences.
Generally he integrates his works into an exhibition space, where they interact with the particular circumstances. His installations are characterised by a polygonal geometry, the positioning in the room and the colour of the object form an interplay with the present light conditions. Hunziker’s special feel for space and his precise choice of material and colour lead to a comprehensive experience when looking at his art works.
