About the artist

Born in Lausanne in 1955, the son of the industrial heir, legendary playboy and photographer Gunter Sachs and his first wife Anne-Marie Faure. After the early death of his mother, he grew up with his grandmother in Germany. At the age of eight, Rolf Sachs moved in with his father in Lausanne and was Brigitte Bardot’s stepson for three years. He attended the boarding school Le Rosey in the canton of Vaud, where he then met his Iranian wife Maryam Banihashem. After studying economics at the universities of London and San Francisco, he made a career as an investment banker in Munich until 1984, when he became a furniture designer. His Inseper-able table from 2010 (consisting of two sledges), the IQ Fortis wristwatch from 2008 or his series of lamps under dust cover bells such as the Rattus Maximus lamp in 2010 are sensational.
