He also established himself as an acclaimed visual artist. After abandoning a career as a biochemist at the University of Texas, he moved to San Francisco and began tattooing in one of the oldest shops in California, the \u2018Picture Machine\u2019. He now owns and operates the legendary \u2018Saved Tattoo\u2019 in Brooklyn, New York whose client list includes a long roster of celebrities.<br \/>\nIn recent years, he has gained much acclaim from fine art communities worldwide for his work in mediums other than skin. Alongside sculptures, paintings and graphite pencil drawings he is most famous for his intricately carved objects made out of uncirculated US currency.
