Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric-Eug\u00e8ne Piat was a famous French sculptor and stucco plasterer, creating mostly designs and models for clocks, ceiling and table lamps, candelabras and chandeliers. All of his designs were executed by the leading firms of Parisian high quality bronze casters and displayed at the major international exhibitions of that time. Stylistically, his work is characteristic of Historism and the eclecticism was well received by the audience at that time.
\nHis pendulum clock models mark the beginning of his career. In 1855, at the \u2018Exposition universelle de Paris\u2018 he created a clock named \u2018Printemps et Automne\u2019 for the manufacturer D\u00e9pensier and a clockwork for the clock \u2018L\u2019industrie \u00e9crasant l\u2019ignorance d\u00e9vour\u00e9e par l\u2019envie\u2019 for the manufacturer Boyer. With these two creations Piat made a name for himself and started his collaboration with the famous French bronze manufacturer Victor Alexandre Paillard.
\nThe success of his works at several exhibitions as well as the originality of his creations led to his nickname \u2018king of bronze\u2019. Additionally he won several important awards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
